To start things off, I personally think that there are two different types of hip hop genres. There is one that just speak their mind and try and be good people who try and preach life to others through rap songs. Then you have others who rap about useless crap like hoes, pimps and getting laid and about the "ghetto side of life". In the first video, Russell Simmons and Common (my favorite rapper) are two of the most well known and influencial rappers of their time. These are two examples of people who base their music on their personal experience and about whats important. Common writes about peace and love around the word. They care about people other than themselves. It frustrates me to think that people like Common could be in the same genre as 50 cent. Songs like "Ayo Technology" could never compare to songs by Common. Their words are completly different. 50 Cent talks about his personal problems and how he was brought up in the ghetto. but its hard to pay attention to the lyrics with all the volgarity that hes yelling. Although the interview with 50 cent was interesting and entertaining. its hard for me to get past the lack of knowledge that he pocesses. But he does make the point that life is difficult and that was what he was raised on so thats what he writes about. People these days are used to hearing "bad words" so rappers are free to speak their mind in which ever way they chose.
When people stoop down to use "bad words", to me it just shows a lack of vocabulary.... there are so many ways to say things without usig the N word
