Devils Advocate

My topic is about giving teens contraceptives in school! I personally do not think it is okay for the schools to give teen contraceptives for several reasons. It could be assumed that the schools are trying to promote sexual activity amoungst its students.

Students at this age do not have the mentality to know right from wrong. Therefore, no matter if the school preaches abstinance and shows the consequences of having unprotected sex. Sexual education shows them that unwanted preganacies can occur as wells as sexualy transmitted disease but at this age, teens just want the excitement. By having the school giving them contraceptives the schools are just promoting "safe" sex. They are trying to lower the amount of unwanted pregnancies and raise awareness on sexually transmitted diseases. Even if not all the teens pay attention to what the school has to say, they might be able to change one life. These kids are having sex regardless of what the school says so why not have them do it the right way! Atleast by having the schools giving them the contraceptives, the schools are giving them access to things that they are too embarrased to get out in normal stores. It is difficult for a "child" to get contraceptives in stores. They might think that its humiliating or that people are judging them. This makes it easier for them to get it.
